monthly networking program

Brewing up business

Brewing Up Business is the monthly networking program that has been active for 20 years. It is why the Nashville Association of Professional People (NAPP) was formed. This program evolved and formed into the current Nashville LGBT Chamber to gather with the community and allies, to meet new people, make new connections, and do business in an inclusive environment. It has evolved from a group of 20 to now over 140 people meeting a month. We have been in some incredible locations, that are always members of the Chamber, highlighting their space, their food, and their business. It takes place on the third Thursday of every month. In the last six months, our average attendance has grown to over 100!

There are an average of 20-30 first time attendees each event. We make sure to highlight all membership levels as hosts each month. Small businesses are highlighted as often as our corporate members. Hundreds of members and community networkers will taste your food and learn about your business. The opportunity to host events is an important benefit we offer our members. Hosts are able to show off their space and, any services or products they provide, will be listed on the LGBT Chamber website, social media, and events calendar, have the opportunity to speak at the event, and have the opportunity to give away prizes and/or promotional materials to attendees.

Brewing Up Business is the hottest event of the month. Fill out the BUB Host Application and take advantage of this invaluable Chamber benefit today!

Hosting Requirements

All Brewing Up Business hosts must be a current Nashville LGBT Chamber member at Copper Level ($300) or above. Check to see if you are an active member here.

The host will provide a proper location for 60 to 150 people. Finding the right space is of the utmost importance. Different parts of town and business types bring out people we may not normally see. We can match your capacity with the appropriate month.

No space?  No worries.  We will coordinate a partnership between you and another member who does.

Example Locations

  • Restaurant
  • Event Space
  • Retail Store
  • Office Space - lounge area, event room
  • Hotel
  • Bar/Lounge
  • Exterior space (i.e. terrace or patio)

The host will provide hearty appetizers for 60 to 150 people. The host can highlight their own food, provide store-bought food, or have the event catered.

For a member who has a space but lacks access to food, we will work to coordinate a partnership with a caterer. It is up to the host and caterer to negotiate the cost. We expect the caterer to work with the host to make it affordable. The caterer can donate the food and be listed as a sponsor or co-host.

Sample Menu

  • Stuffed mushrooms
  • Vegetable Platter with Buttermilk Ranch
  • Hummus with Pita Bread
  • Shrimp, Asparagus, & Tomato Flatbread
  • Red Potato and Zucchini Medley

The host will provide both alcohol and non-alcohol drinks for the expected crowd size. Minimum requirements are water, red wine, white wine, and beer. Guests would appreciate soda and other non-alcohol drinks, but it is not a requirement. If the host is a restaurant or bar, we request each guest receive one free drink for the first 75 guests from a limited menu and the opportunity to purchase from a cash bar after that. For example, the host provides 75 drink tokens which the Chamber distributes to attendees. The drink menu consists of one white wine, one red wine, 2 beers, and maybe a specialty cocktail which is preferably premade. If the host can provide space and food but not complimentary drinks, we will work to find a sponsor for the 75 drink tickets. We expect the venue to give a discounted price to the drink sponsor. The drink sponsor will determine their budget well in advance of the event, and the Chamber will manage the negotiation.
